A Spotlight on Two of Our New Teachers
Here at DU, we take an immense amount of pride in the quality of our teachers! We
are so excited to have added several amazing professionals to our staff this year, and
we want to highlight them! Here is an intro to two of them:
Barbara Wescott is our Ballet Director. She began taking ballet in Boise after seeing
the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo when she was 8 years old. She eventually trained at
the Ballet Major Program at the University of Utah, where she also received a
Master’s Degree in Arts Administration, and published the manual, “Business at the
Barre.”
Barbara has been able to study with some of the best in the industry: Willam
Christenson, founder of Ballet West and San Francisco Ballet; Bruce Marks of Ballet
West and the Boston Ballet; Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury of Ririe/Woodbury
Dance Company; the members of First Chamber Dance Company; the Pacific
Northwest Ballet faculty; and the Ballet Arizona faculty.
She established Dance Arts Academy in Boise, directed SummerDance at the College
of Idaho in Caldwell, and was appointed an adjunct instructor of dance at the College
of Idaho.
Barbara also created choreography especially for student dancers in “The Lion, the
Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Cinderella,” “La Boutique Fantasque,” “Alice in
Wonderland,” “Peter and the Wolf,” “The Seasons,” and “Hansel and Gretel.”
While in Utah, she served on the Utah Arts Council Dance Touring Program jury, and
was the manager of Utah Ballet at the University of Utah. She has been living and
teaching in Seattle for the past 20 years, but is happy to be back in her hometown.
And we are so happy to have her talent at our studio!
Kynlee Reddish teaches Ballet/Tap and Classical Ballet. She began dancing at the
age of 3 and has had a passion for it ever since. Her training began with combo
classes and ballet classes. Kynlee then became a competition
dancer with Center Stage Studios for nine years. There she trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip-hop, Musical
Theater, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Modern.
She was also a member of Columbia High School’s dance team for four years,
winning many team awards and solo titles. She was captain of the team her senior
year, and worked hard with her team to win the All-Around State Championship in
2010. Kynlee attended BYU and took many classes in the dance program offered
there.
She began teaching at a young age and learned she had a passion for helping young
dancers. She has taught at Center Stage Studios in Nampa and The Pointe Dance
Academy in the Salt Lake City area. Kynlee directed competition teams at The Pointe
Dance Academy for four years, winning both team and choreography awards. She
recently moved back to the Boise area and is so excited to be back teaching in the
dance community in which she grew up. And we are just as excited to have her at
Dance Unlimited!
